ASHLEY IGHOREWO
I’ve been having a hard time describing “who I am” and “what I do” as of lately, and I was completely stumped when asked to write this bio.
I guess I’ll start by introducing myself… My name is Ashley. And I’m in the business of people. I run a media company called “Freegxrl Media”, and work as a Journalist for Shifter Magazine. And when I’m not overthinking about it too much, I’m a dancer too.
I’ve been interested in communications and mass media since I was very young. I used to put on talent shows for my family and pretend to be an ET Canada red carpet correspondent, lol. I started my media company with my sister in 2019, with the premise of creating community and showcasing culture, talent and stories from black women/WOC all over the world. I want to be apart of the people that create change.. I’m tired of people putting black women and WOC in a box because we are so much more than what the world makes us out to be. My goal is to show all of us, not just parts of us. And to have a majority female-ran team cause girls run the world.
I hope to change the world with my writing, interviews, and all the inspiring content that I intende to create with the girls! it’s only the beginning.”
