Cynthia Kamali
Hello, my name is Cynthia, I am an aspiring interdisciplinary artist. I have for a long time been afraid of defining myself as an artist because I believed I suffered from imposter syndrome. I felt As though I was more so an admirer of the arts rather than a connaisseur. But the last few years have taught me a lot about myself and my path in the artistic world. I learned how to practice a skill that I had always known to be a beloved hobby. Each new piece I worked on exposed parts of my abilities I never knew to be there. The more I practiced the more I gained confidence in my creative vision. Although I still hesitate to put myself in a box of “artist” I understand the lane I wish to reach one day. Also, the word “artist”is widely ascribed to visual artists, while I truly see the world through and interdisciplinary lens, I love hairstyling, I love fashion, I love cooking and mostly I love to dance. An artistic piece when received well gives me the same satisfaction as serving people I love a delicious recipe, successfully braiding a cool style or putting together a fantastic outfit. In that same breath, I feel the creation of paintings is like a choreography between a brush and a canvass, each brush stroke rhythmically creates a pocket of movement, resulting in such a dynamic creation there are multiple perspectives to pull from. Wearing multiple creative hats is to me what encompasses joy and artistry
